What do i get for it? Do I get to meet no people? Do I get to see cool stuff?

So far all I can think of is:
- I get to see a few pictures here and there that my friends don't already put on facebook
- Said pictures will have filters applied

edit: update: I just opened the app and got incredibly frustrated with the shit being posted, then I moved over to some other tab and the app quite working, I'll take that as my sign to stay away from it.

I get it mainly to follow things like roadkill, car&driver, and so on. Type in #66Mustang and cool pictures will pop up. I think it is worth it.

The only time I can, in good faith, recommend using Instagram is if your food arguably, unequivocally, beyond any shadow of doubt , looks better than everyone else's food

If you aren't already 'gramming, just ignore it. There are enough ways to waste time with social media that I'm sure you're already engaged in. Its just another way for advertisers to infiltrate your life and pitch you -BUY THIS SHIT. BUY IT.

I hope it goes away sooner than later.

I have no presence whatsoever in social media, unless you count Oppo. I have no Facebook account, I don't tweet, I don't G+. None of it. I hear stories about others who bitch about content and ignorant people and loss of privacy, and I just shake my head and move on.

I only facebook with friends, anyone I intend to get into a relationship with does NOT get to see my facebook, figure shit out about me the old fashioned way please. Then there's family, I only add them if they are around my age and will understand most of the stuff I get into on there.

Without trying to get all preachy and self-righteous, I dumped all social media (aside from a Miata forum and an occasional burner here) and could not be happier. My core group of friends now have more meaningful interactions, and a large portion of daily concentration and time that was once wrapped up in that stuff was now freed up to do more productive things. I've long since dropped my smartphone for a prepaid potato, and am considering dropping that for a land line.
I'm not letting today's electronic connectivity standards convolute my simple lifestyle preferences.

Do not put excessive hashtags. Don't be materialistic with followers. Don't harass people who like your photos so they follow you by complaining they are ghost followers. Don't follow anything that goes along with "lifted truck bros and hoes". Yeah, they aren't that great, especially involving 2 foot lifts on a poor raptor.
